The local sitcom that laughs in the face of death is back for a second season. Tara Ward speaks to sisters Eve and Grace Palmer, who co-created, co-wrote and co-star in the series.

Following the success of Waru (NZIFF 2017) and Vai (2019), the production team completes the trilogy with anthology film Kāinga, bringing in underrepresented Asian filmmakers to craft eight unique stories chronicling the diverse, ever-changing, yet familiar experiences of Asians trying to make Aotearoa New Zealand their home through five decades.

In cinemas from February 20, The Legend of Baron To’a is a proud example of the rarest of Kiwi film genres, the action-comedy.

What follows is a crowdpleasing action-comedy that feels like a cross between Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle, cult Kiwi movie Tongan Ninja and the weird and wacky criminal world of Guy Richie movies.

"I had a great time doing [this film]," he said. "There's that feeling of family, of whanau, mainly because I know everyone. Iit feels like we're all striving to tell a really good story.

Auckland Daze and Find Me a Māori Bride director Kiel McNaughton's feature debut is billed as a South Auckland version of The Karate Kid.
